Colon Flush

You might be surprised at what is inside of your body.  Besides the usual organs and tissues, there are different types of “junk” inside of your digestive tract.  This waste matter and mucous can influence your overall health.  Remove this “junk,” and you can absorb nutrients better and flush waste more efficiently – giving you better health.  Colon Flush is designed exactly to accomplish this goal.

Why you need a colon cleanse

Your colon is an important part of your body.  It is the part of the part of your large intestine that runs down to the rectum and stores waste, absorbs water, and makes sure that you stay hydrated.  If your colon is healthy, you should have one or two solid bowel movements a day.  The bowel movement should be 8-12 inches long, solid, and a brownish color.  It should not cause pain or straining.

You don’t have to be constipated to do a colon cleanse, though that is the main reason why people choose to do them.  Constipation can lead to severe illnesses due to the buildup of bacteria.  A colon cleanse can be beneficial to anyone to help remove the toxins that come from our diets, environments, poor eating habits, and malnourishment.  It helps to get rid of the junk that accumulates in our bowels, allowing us to absorb nutrients more efficiently and remove toxins like we are supposed to.

Cleansing your colon is an important part of any detox, and if you will detox other organs, you should start with your colon.  That will allow the toxins to get out of your body when you conduct the other detox processes.

What's in Colon Flush?

Alfalfa (leaf) – You have probably seen alfalfa growing if you have ever driven across the desert.  It is one of the oldest cultivated plants, and is commonly used for hay.  It is rich in vitamins C, E and K, as well as a source of roughage.  If you don’t drink milk, you should eat alfalfa to get enough vitamin K.  Vitamin K works with vitamin D to allow your body to use calcium.  It helps keep calcium in the bones and out of the arteries, where it can cause problems.  You should not take alfalfa if you are taking anti-rejection drugs or are on coumadin.

Psyllium Husks – Psyllium is an herb native to India, Iran, and Pakistan.  The husk is loaded with fiber, an essential part of any colon cleanse.  It is used to treat constipation, as it softens stool, as well as a treatment for diarrhea and irritable bowel.  This is because psyllium regulates the amount of time it takes waste matter to move through the colon.  If you are suffering from constipation, it adds volume to the stool, making it easier to pass.  Psyllium is more effective than wheat bran and causes less bloating and better bowel movements.  It can also relieve the pain of ulcerative colitis and reduce the instances of fecal incontinence.  You should not take psyllium with a stimulant laxative.  You should always take a supplement containing psyllium with a full glass of water.

Lemon peel – Lemon peel is just what it sounds like – the yellow outer layer of the lemon.  It stimulates gastric juices to digest more food and provides vitamin C.  It also contains numerous antioxidants and vitamin C.  It can help stabilize capillaries and heal hemorrhoids.

Wheatgrass – Wheatgrass comes from the new shoots of wheat grains.  It is often used the same as barley grass to treat conditions of the spleen and liver, as well as poor digestion.  It is rich in quercetin, rutin, and phosphates, along with antioxidants to promote healing.  It should not be used by nursing mothers as wheat grass may reduce lactation.

Buckthorn (leaf) – Buckthorn is known by many names, including arrow wood, black dogwood, dog wood, and more.  It is a shrub native to Europe and the Middle East and has been used as a laxative for some time.  It is always used dried, never fresh, because it has to be aged for a year to break down the anthrone chemicals.  If not aged, it causes intestinal spasms and vomiting.  In some cases, it can be aged artificially through heating.  Buckthorn is a rich source of flavonoids and tannins.  It acts on the nerves in the intestinal track, numbing the nerves that hold back stool to make it easier to pass.  You should not use buckthorn if you have appendicitis, Crohn’s disease, or ulcerative colitis.

Turmeric (root) – Turmeric is also known curcuma, gauri, Indian Saffron and You Jin.  It is a tropical plant native to India and is in the same family as ginger.  It grows about three feet tall and has a knobby rhizome that looks like ginger.  It is used for strength and to invigorate the blood.  It contains alpha curcumen, beta curcumene, camphene, camphor, and curcumin.  It can be useful for treating cramps and liver disease.  It works as an anti-inflammatory and can help prevent cancer.  Adding it to your diet speeds up the digestion of fats and sugars and stops the formation of gallstones.  Women who are trying to become pregnant should limit their consumption of turmeric, as it is often used in natural formulas of birth control.

Peppermint – Peppermint is well known for its minty flavors and is made up of menthol, menthone, and menthyl ethers as well as traces of jasmone.  It is grown in areas that have long, warm, and bright summer days.  It has many cooling properties, and can reduce the pain of colitis and colic.
