Skin Care and Acne Products - Microdermx
Microdermx - Medical Grade Corundum Crystal Microdermabrasion
Step 1: Refinish
|
Microdermx™ “Step 1: Refinish” is the microdermabrasion aspect of the treatment and uses medical grade corundum crystals (or fused aluminum oxide) to bring you a professional treatment without the expense and hassle of going to a salon. Unlike the majority of home microdermabrasion kits, Microdermx™ adds to medical grade crystals concentrated amounts of botanicals, nutrients and active enzymes to further enhance results.
|

|
Step 2: Replenish

|
The follow up regime to microdermabrasion treatment is very important, “Step 2: Replenish” was created specifically for this purpose. This "skin food" contains bio-dynamic ingredients that work harmoniously with your skin's natural repair systems to remedy past effects and prevent future damage caused by environmental pollutants, sun exposure and time.
It should be noted that for approx. 36 hours after treatment the skin is more “open”, therefore applying typical moisturizers that contain harsh chemical additives could cause the skin to react. This is due to the nature of microdermabrasion removing the top layers of epidermis that normally act as a barrier to toxins. Therefore, it is important to take this time to implant nutrients and active botanicals deep into the epidermis which will help to take this treatment a step further than microdermabrasion alone.
|

|
A safe, effective, affordable alternative to chemical, laser or surgical procedures, Microdermx™ Microdermabrasion is as effective as a microdermabrasion treatment from a doctor’s
office or salon and can be used alone or in conjunction with professional treatments.
There has been a “microdermabrasion marketing bandwagon” that has given birth to a multitude of companies peddling creams that contain ineffective crystals, synthetic ingredients and fillers (to take up space in the jar and save companies money.)
Microdermx™ contains only high quality fused corundum crystal (second only to the diamond on the Mohs scale) and no fillers, chemicals or synthetics are added (we use only natural—and quite expensive—plant based preservatives.) Microdermx™ is a very dense blend of the highest quality medical grade crystals combined with nutrients, anti-oxidants, botanicals, and active enzymes that will make a dramatic change in the integrity, look and feel of your skin.
In addition to removing the outer layers of skin through the mechanical action of the medical grade corundum crystals, the application of Microdermx™ stimulates blood flow to the surface of the skin. This enhances the oxygenation of the skin, increasing cell renewal and regrowth of collagen (the structural proteins giving skin its strength) and elastin (for suppleness). The massaging action of the treatment creates a mild flushing and cleansing effect below the surface of the skin, resulting in a more vibrant, healthy appearance and complexion.
Some results of the use of Microdermx™ include:
- Reducing fine lines, acne scars & uneven skin texture
- Erasing sun damage, hyperpigmentation & brown spots
- Blackhead and scar elimination or reduction
- Reducing enlarged pores
- Balancing very oily or very dry skin
- It requires no recovery or "down time"
- And it can be used on face, neck & entire body

| Q. |
What is microdermabrasion? |
| A. |
Originally developed in Italy, the microdermabrasion
process is highly acclaimed and has been
widely used in Europe for roughly the
past 20 years. In late ’96 it finally
made it’s way to the states when
the FDA gave its approval for this revolutionary
skin treatment. Microdermabrasion works
by removing the top layer of the epidermis,
exposing the amazingly smooth, fresh
new skin from underneath. It has been
proven in studies to improve skin structure
at both the epidermal and dermal levels.
Research also shows that it thickens
the skin (thicker skin is less likely
to wrinkle), stimulates collagen and
elastin growth in the deeper layers,
and over time, enables your skin to heal
existing sun damage, wrinkles, fine lines,
acne scars, shrink pores and more.
It’s non-invasive so it has no down
time-unlike painful chemical and laser
peels (that have been known to THIN the
skin) Which is, in part, why it has been
called the "lunchtime peel".
Many people get them on their lunch breaks
and return to work with their co-workers
none the wiser! Fortunately, it’s
safe for all types and pigments of skin.
Because of it’s effectiveness for
so many skin conditions it has grown in
popularity at an astounding rate. Today,
it's the number one non-surgical cosmetic
procedure in the U.S., improving the quality
of skin for millions of women every year.

| Q. |
I have very sensitive
skin. Can I use Microdermx ™? |
| A. |
Yes, it was formulated for people with
sensitive skin. It will not irritate
because it does not contain any of these
substances that typically cause irritations:
fillers, paraben, palmitate, phenoxyethanol,
paraffin, propylene glycol, mineral oil,
formaldehyde, myristate, SLS, ALS, artificial
color and fragrance. It's suitable for
all skin colors/types. There are no harmful
side effects or discomfort from the use
of it.

|
| Q. |
How long will it
take before I see a big change in my skin? |
| A. |
If done properly, you will feel and
see smoother, softer glowing skin the
very first use. But results for the
larger "issues" (scars, wrinkles)
will come with multiple treatments.
Some have seen their lines and scars
improve 50% after a week, and others
have seen improvement 3 weeks to several
months. It, of course, partially depends
on the depth of the issues. To maximize
results, apply the Step Two each morning
and night or after each time you wash
your face, in addition to after each
Microdermx™ treatment. These
products complement each other. They
have a remarkable “synergy” that
yields better and faster results.

|
| Q. |
How is Microdemx™ different
than the other "at home" microdermabrasion
systems? |
| A. |
The FDA currently has no regulations
applying to the term "Microdermabrasion",
therefore, it is being misused by the majority
of companies who wish to take advantage
of this prosperous “trend” in
skin care. Many so-called microdermabrasion
treatments available for home utilize ineffective
(soft) crystals—such as pumice, salt,
baking soda, bauxite & un-fused
corundum (or aluminum oxide)—that can have little
or no actual effect on abrading
the skin. Or (worse) could be imbed into
the epidermis, causing breakouts and/or
feeding toxins (bauxite) into the skin.
MOST OFTEN, these ineffective crystals
are combined with cream bases that contain
harsh and even mildly toxic materials.
Given a choice, probably the last thing
you would want to put in your skin when
it’s freshly microdermabraded, (or
more likely - just exfoliated) is the chemical
equivalent of anti-freeze (propylene glycol)
or a clogging petroleum-based wax. However,
this is precisely what the majority of
home “microdermabrasion” systems
are selling to unknowing customers.

| Q. |
Don’t I need
one of those plastic tools that come with
some home microdermabrasion
kits to get real salon level results? |
| A. |
The plastic tools have little to nothing
to do with the microdermabrasion process
and are mostly a tool for marketing and
not microdermabrading. It’s the CRYSTALS
that must be capable of doing the work.
Clinical tests that successfully compared
the effectiveness of “manual microdermabrasion” to
the salon version used the finger rub method
(with the proper crystals, of course) and
not the plastic sponge tool version. Furthermore,
most of the plastic hand tools are topped
with a very soft sponge that (left slightly
damp) are a perfect breeding ground for
bacteria.

| Q. |
I have oily/ acne
prone skin. Will the Step Two moisturizer
break my skin out? Does it clog pores? |
| A. |
No, the Step Two: Replenish usually
won't cause breakouts or reactions to people
even with very sensitive skin. Breakouts
are extremely rare because
it's non-comedogenic (non-pore clogging). It will minimize pore size whereas
other oils may tend to make your pores stand out. If you still have concerns,
you should try a sample first, and use it on a small area to test your reaction.
Please note that when we do hear of "breakouts" it’s
typically a result of customers putting their own (and often times-chemical
laden)
moisturizers on after the microdermabrasion treatment rather than the ones
we recommend.
This can happen even if your normal moisturizer doesn’t normally break
you out. The reason for this is that during the microdermabrasion process,
the top layer of epidermis is temporarily thinned which makes the skin more
vulnerable to toxins that might it ordinarily might not react to. If you
must use your normal moisturizer, first waiting 36 hours for your epidermis
to build back up is suggested.

| Q. |
Will Microdermx™ help
with dark spots and uneven skin tones? |
| A. |
Yes, keeping in mind it's not an over-night
fix. This system works by stimulating your
body’s ability to heal itself. By
removing the damaged top layers skin you
encourage and quicken the growth of new
skin from underneath that eventually replaces
the patterns of the old skin. The more
you use it, the better the results.

pigments of skin.

|
| Q. |
Should I wear sun-screen
after using Microdermx™? |
| A. |
Yes, if possible it’s best to
avoid the sun for the first 24 hours after
treatment. If that’s not possible
using a sun-screen with 30 SPF is a very
good idea. Remember that you are removing
the very top layer of epidermis, which
normally acts as a layer of natural sunblock.
Look for sunscreens for sensitive skin
with as natural ingredients as possible.
Physical sun blockers such as titanium
dioxide, and zinc oxide rather than the
chemical versions have been debated to
be safer/less toxic. Nikkel Holistic Skin
Care will soon be formulating a sunscreen
especially for microdermabraded skin. If

|
| Q. |
How much money
will I save by using the Microdermx™ vs.
getting it done at a salon? |
| A. |
Spas will charge on average $500.00/6
treatments. There are approximately 12
treatments in each jar of Microdermx™.
It would, of course, depend on the depth
of issues you are looking to remedy.
However, regularly using Microdermx™ for
only regular skin maintenance could save
you literally thousands of dollars over
the course of just a year.

|
| Q. |
I had heard
that microdermabrasion can cause cold
sores,
can this occur with Microdermx™? |
| A. |
No, that would only apply to the salon “or
dry crystal vacuum version” and not
to the manual microdermabrasion method. Manually
is safer in that way as there are no tools
to be used on your skin that were also used
(and possibly contaminated) by/on others.
Plus, manual (cream based) microdermabrasion
is known to be safer due to there being no
chance of inhaling the dry crystals that
are used in the vacuum wand version.
